Dear Tenants,
I am writing to advise that we have received a complaint about the noise created by children playing around the lake at Lakeside near the student halls of residence.
Please note that at this time of year many students are revising for their exams and as such we would request that any tenants with children ensure that the children do not play around the halls of residence in order to minimise the disturbance caused. Also it has been suggested that the children have at times been unsupervised and have been chasing the birds and throwing bread near to the edge of the lake. This is worrying as it is currently nesting season for the birds we are extremely concerned that this behaviour may disturb the nesting, and cause the birds distress. Furthermore, I worry that once the ducklings and goslings begin to appear, the children could put a lot of stress on the baby birds. Also such behaviour could cause a goose to attack one of them (geese are extremely strong).
Finally, for those of you with small children, there is a real safety issue here. They are running around water unsupervised and could fall into the lake, so we are not only concerned about the noise from the children, but also have a great concern for their injury.
Many thanks for your understanding and anticipated cooperation.
On a lighter note, we hope you all have a very enjoyable Easter break. We will be out of the office now until Tuesday 14th April 9am.
Kind regards,
Staff and Family Housing Team
